Introducing Spirit Orb Art
Where Experience Becomes Expression
There are moments when research asks us to examine what we see.
Art asks us to feel it.
Spirit Orb Art is just that — a place where our experiences with spirit orb photography move beyond documentation and become inspiration.
Created principally through the artistic vision of Jennifer Consalvo, Spirit Orb Art draws upon the colours, forms, movement, atmosphere and personal meaning found within our photographic experiences.
The original photograph may capture only a fraction of a second.
Art allows that moment to continue.

Inspired by the Orb Collection
Spirit Orb Art has a direct relationship with the experiences preserved within The Orb Collection.

The photographs provide the beginning.
From there, creativity takes another path. Colour can be explored. Details can be emphasized. Movement can become composition.
A fleeting photographic experience can become something designed to be lived with, contemplated and enjoyed.
The result is not intended to replace the original photograph or alter the historical record.
The photograph remains the photograph.
The artwork is something different: an artistic response to it.
That distinction is important to SOIRC.
Our research archive preserves documentation.

Jennifer’s Creative Vision

One image can begin many conversations.
Jennifer’s relationship with spirit orb imagery is deeply personal.
Through Spirit Orb Art, she interprets selected photographs and experiences through her own creative perspective, allowing elements within them to inspire new digital works. She creates digital brushes from the isolated orbs, extracting their texture, essence and individual healing colour palettes.
Some pieces may draw attention to details easily missed in an original photograph.
Others may explore colour, energy, movement, symmetry or form.
Still others may simply begin with the feeling created by a particular image or experience.
There is no requirement that every viewer see exactly the same thing.
That’s part of what makes art interesting.
Art Born From Experience
There is an important principle behind this collection:
Our art begins with our experiences.
Where Spirit Orb Art is based upon an original SOIRC photograph, that relationship can be preserved wherever appropriate so visitors may explore both the photographic record and the artwork it inspired.
This creates something rather unusual.
You may be able to see the original moment.
Then see what Jennifer discovered within it.
And finally experience what that moment became through art.
It creates a bridge between documentation and imagination, observation and interpretation, research and creativity.
Look Again
One of the beautiful things about working creatively with photography is that art encourages us to slow down.
A photograph that received only a few seconds of attention can suddenly invite another look. And another. Patterns emerge. Colours become noticeable. Forms appear differently.
Whether those forms ultimately have spiritual significance is a personal question.
The artwork does not demand an answer.
Instead, it offers an invitation:
Look again.
Art & Research Can Coexist
SOIRC deliberately keeps its artistic and research functions distinct while allowing them to inspire one another.
Research asks:
What happened? What can we observe? What information can we preserve?
Art asks something different:
What does this experience awaken in us?
Neither question needs to replace the other.
We are interested not only in documenting extraordinary experiences, but also in exploring the ways those experiences affect human creativity, curiosity and connection.
The Artist’s Interpretation
Spirit Orb Art should always be understood as artistic interpretation.
Where an artwork incorporates, enhances, transforms or creatively interprets elements of an original photograph, we will identify it as artwork rather than presenting the finished piece as an untouched documentary photograph.
That transparency protects both sides of SOIRC’s work.
Visitors can appreciate the art freely while knowing that the photographic research collection remains a separate documentary archive.
Authenticity matters — even when imagination is invited to play.

You don’t need to understand an image in exactly the same way we do.
Art has never required that.
Sometimes its purpose is simply to make us stop for a moment…
and see something differently.
